The KanexPro AP2DBL eliminates the need for a separate mic preamp and mixer in space-constrained AV installations. This quarter-rack-width Class D amplifier delivers 2×20W at 4Ω with a built-in microphone mixer featuring 48V phantom power, automatic ducking, and independent volume control — combining amplification, mixing, and EQ in a single compact chassis. Two switchable stereo inputs (RCA and 3.5mm) accommodate media players, laptops, and wireless mic receivers, while the balanced MIC input supports condenser, dynamic, and line-level sources. RS232 control with a documented command set enables integration with Crestron, Extron, and other room controllers. Bridge mode doubles output to 1×40W at 8Ω for single-speaker installations, and a stereo loop output enables multi-zone daisy-chaining.

- Does it support condenser microphones?
- Yes. The MIC input provides switchable 48V phantom power for condenser mics, plus MIC and LINE modes for dynamic mics and wireless receivers.
- What is the ducking feature?
- Automatic ducking prioritizes MIC audio over line input. When a microphone signal is detected, the line audio level is automatically reduced.
- What RS232 settings are required?
- 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity. 9-pin female D connector with pin 2=TX, 3=RX, 5=GND.
- What microphone connection modes are available?
- Three modes: 48V phantom power for condenser mics, MIC mode for dynamic mics (balanced or unbalanced), and LINE mode for wireless mic receivers or line-level sources.
- Can I daisy-chain multiple AP2DBL units?
- Yes. The stereo loop output (3.5mm) feeds a line-level signal to a second AP2DBL or external amplifier for multi-zone coverage.
- How do I mount AP2DBL?
- Quarter-rack width (3.78 inches wide, 1.5 inches tall). Can be placed on a shelf, mounted under a table, or installed in a rack with a third-party quarter-rack shelf.
- What power supply does it use?
- Internal universal power supply accepting 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz. No external power adapter required. Power consumption is 3.6W.
- Audio is distorted at high volume
- Check speaker impedance (must be 4 ohm minimum in stereo mode, 8 ohm in bridge mode). Reduce volume via RS232 preset command or front-panel controls. Verify input signal level is within spec.
- RS232 commands not responding
- Confirm baud rate 9600, 8N1. Verify pin assignment: 2=TX, 3=RX, 5=GND on the 9-pin female D connector. Ensure command strings include the trailing period or percent sign.
- Can it drive 70V/100V distributed speakers?
- No. AP2DBL outputs 2x20W at 4 ohm low-impedance only. For 70V/100V, specify the AP3DBL (40W, 70V/100V).
