HDMI eARC w/ SPDIF Audio over CAT Extender 100m POC
KanexPro AUD-EXT-EARC100M extends HDMI eARC or S/PDIF audio up to 100m over a single CAT cable with Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD MA, bi-directional PoC, and CEC.
Extends HDMI eARC or S/PDIF audio up to 100m/328ft over a single CAT cable, delivering lossless surround sound from a TV to a remote soundbar, AVR, or multi-room audio system. The transmitter connects to the TV’s eARC/ARC port and sends full-resolution audio — including Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio — over standard CAT6/6a/7 cabling to a receiver at the remote audio endpoint. For TVs without HDMI eARC, the built-in S/PDIF pass-through channel provides an independent optical audio path from the transmitter’s S/PDIF IN port to the receiver’s S/PDIF OUT port. Bi-directional Power over Cable eliminates the need for a power source at both ends, and CEC pass-through maintains device control across the link.

Questions
- What is the maximum transmission distance and ESD rating?
- The extender transmits up to 100m/328ft over a single CAT cable, and is rated for IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection of plus/minus 8kV air-gap and plus/minus 4kV contact discharge.
- How much power does the AUD-EXT-EARC100M consume?
- Maximum power consumption is 5.65W, supplied from an AC 100-240V 50/60Hz input through a locking DC 12V/1A power adapter.
- What is required on the TV for CEC pass-through to function?
- CEC pass-through is only available in eARC mode. The TV must have ARC/eARC and CEC enabled in its settings (labeled Anynet+, BRAVIA Sync, or SimpLink depending on brand).
- How does bi-directional PoC affect installation flexibility?
- Because PoC can source power from either end of the link, integrators can locate the single power adapter wherever is more convenient -- at the TV/transmitter side or at the amplifier/receiver side -- without needing power at both locations.
- What is included in the box?
- The package includes one HDMI Audio Extender transmitter, one receiver, one 12V/1A locking power adapter, and one user manual.
- How is the AUD-EXT-EARC100M powered, and do both units need separate adapters?
- No. Power over Cable (PoC) is bi-directional, so only one 12V/1A locking power adapter is required -- connect it to either the transmitter or the receiver and power reaches both ends over the CAT cable.
- Audio drops or is intermittent. What should I check?
- Use solid-core Cat6/6a/7 cable rated for structured wiring rather than patch cables for permanent runs, verify all RJ45 connectors are properly terminated with T568B direct wiring (not crossover), and keep cable runs away from high-voltage power lines.
- CEC commands are not passing through. What should I check?
- CEC pass-through is only available in eARC mode, so confirm the switch is set to eARC and that both the TV and the receiving device (soundbar/AVR) have CEC enabled. Some TV brands label CEC differently (Anynet+, BRAVIA Sync, SimpLink).
- Why choose the AUD-EXT-EARC100M over a simpler ARC-only solution?
- It carries the full eARC codec set -- including Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio -- from an eARC-equipped TV to a remote AVR over a single CAT cable up to 100m, while still providing an S/PDIF fallback mode for TVs without eARC.
- What application is this extender best suited for?
- It is designed for extending a TV's eARC or S/PDIF audio return to a soundbar, AVR, or amplifier that is not co-located with the display -- covering both modern eARC-equipped displays and legacy TVs with optical output in one kit.
