18Gbps 8×8 HDMI Matrix with ARC Function
KanexPro MMX-8X8AUD 18Gbps 8x8 HDMI matrix with ARC, audio de-embedding, 4K60 4:4:4, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, per-output downscaler. RS-232, TCP/IP, Web GUI…
Centralized 4K60 HDMI switching with integrated audio management for multi-display environments. The KanexPro MMX-8X8AUD routes up to eight 18Gbps HDMI sources to eight independent displays at resolutions up to 4K2K@60Hz 4:4:4, with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG pass-through preserved end-to-end across every output. Each output provides independent audio de-embedding via both analog (3.5mm) and coaxial (RCA) ports, while per-output ARC support extracts return audio from connected displays. A built-in 4K→1080p downscaler operates independently on each output, enabling mixed-resolution environments from a single matrix. Control options include front panel buttons with OLED display, IR remote, RS-232, TCP/IP, and a full-featured Web GUI with scene presets.

Questions
- What is the maximum video resolution and bandwidth supported by the MMX-8X8AUD?
- The MMX-8X8AUD is HDMI 2.0b compliant and supports video resolution up to 4K2K@50/60Hz in 4:4:4 chroma at up to 18Gbps bandwidth. It supports 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit color depth in RGB and YCbCr 4:4:4/4:2:2/4:2:0 color space, with HDCP 2.2 and HDCP 1.4 compliance.
- Which HDR formats pass through the matrix?
- The matrix passes through HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG on every output.
- What control methods are available for integrating this matrix with a control system?
- The matrix can be controlled from the front panel OLED and buttons, the included IR remote, RS-232 (D-Sub 9), TCP/IP over the RJ45 port (default port 8000, Telnet on port 23), and a Web GUI with 8 scene presets.
- What RS-232 command routes a source to a specific output?
- Send s in x av out y! where x is the input (1-8) and y is the output (0-8, 0 = all outputs). For example, s in 3 av out 5! routes input 3 to output 5.
- What is included in the box?
- The package includes the 18Gbps 8x8 HDMI matrix, a 12V/5A power adapter, an IR remote, a 1.5m IR receiver cable, a 1.5m RS-232 cable (male to female), two mounting ears, and a product manual.
- Can the matrix be rack-mounted?
- Yes. It ships as a 1U unit in a metal enclosure measuring 17.32 in (W) x 7.87 in (D) x 1.75 in (H) (440mm x 200mm x 44.5mm), and includes two mounting ears for rack installation.
- There is no audio at the amplifier connected to the coaxial or L/R output. What should I check?
- Verify the amplifier cable is connected to the audio output that corresponds to the HDMI output in use. If using ARC, confirm ARC is enabled for that output through the Web GUI or RS-232, and confirm the display's own ARC/CEC output setting is enabled.
- One or more displays show no video. What should I check?
- Confirm Premium High Speed HDMI cables are used and that cable length does not exceed 16 ft / 5m for 4K60. Try setting the EDID to match the display's native resolution, and if displays have mixed resolutions, enable the 4K-to-1080p downscaler on the affected output.
- What deployment scenarios suit the MMX-8X8AUD?
- It is built for professional 8x8 HDMI routing where independent per-output audio breakout and return-path audio are required, such as sports bars, conference centers, and control rooms distributing 4K60 4:4:4 video alongside separate analog or coaxial audio zones.
- How does the independent per-output downscaler help mixed-display installations?
- Each output has its own 4K-to-1080p downscaler, so an integrator can feed a mix of 4K and legacy 1080p displays from the same matrix without adding external scalers.
