Questions
- Does this decode Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby Atmos?
- No. The AUD-DCODE-ANA decodes standard Dolby Digital (AC-3) and DTS. It does not support Dolby Digital Plus (DD+), Dolby Atmos, or DTS-HD. For streaming services that default to DD+, set the source audio output to PCM or Stereo.
- What PCM sample rates are supported?
- The decoder supports PCM at 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz, and 192kHz — broader than most competing decoders which cap at 96kHz.
- Can I use both the RCA and 3.5mm outputs at the same time?
- Yes. Both outputs are active simultaneously, allowing connection to powered speakers via RCA and headphones via 3.5mm at the same time.
- How do I select between optical and coaxial input?
- Use the slide switch on the back panel of the unit to select between Optical (Toslink) and Coaxial input. Only one input can be active at a time.
- What power supply is required?
- The unit requires a 5V/1A DC power adapter, which is included in the box. Do not use adapters with higher voltage as this may damage the unit.
- Does this require any driver or software installation?
- No. The decoder is fully plug-and-play. Connect cables, apply power, select the input, and audio output begins automatically.
- No sound from my speakers after connecting — what should I check?
- Verify the input selector switch matches your cable type. Check that the source device audio output is set to PCM, Bitstream, or Auto. Confirm the 5V power adapter is connected and the LED is active. If using a TV, set audio output to External Speakers.
- I hear static or distorted audio — how do I fix it?
- The source is likely outputting a format the decoder cannot handle (e.g., Dolby Digital Plus or DTS-HD). Change the source audio output to standard Dolby Digital or PCM. Also ensure the optical cable is fully seated.
- What warranty does this product include?
- Please contact KanexPro sales or visit kanexpro.com for current warranty information.
- What do the LED indicator colors mean?
- Red solid indicates PCM decoding or no signal. Red blinking indicates Dolby Digital decoding. Green blinking indicates DTS decoding. If no LED is lit, check the 5V DC power connection.
