Features & Configuration: Video Wall Setup & Bezel Correction

Overview

KanexPro video wall controllers distribute a single source image across multiple displays, with each display rendering its assigned tile. This article covers display mode selection, bezel correction, and output rotation across all three video wall SKUs.

Display Mode Selection

VW-SP1X44K

Select layout using the included IR remote or RS-232 commands. Available modes:

  • 1×4 Horizontal — 4 displays in a single row
  • 1×4 Vertical — 4 displays in a single column
  • 2×2 — 2×2 grid
  • 1×1 Clone — same image on all 4 outputs
  • Extended configurations up to 3×3 (9 displays)

VW-HDUSBC1X4

8 display modes selectable via front panel button or RS-232 SET VW_MODE x command (x = 1–8):

  • Mode 1: 2×2 video wall
  • Mode 2: 1×4 horizontal
  • Mode 3: 4×1 vertical
  • Mode 4: Clone (all outputs mirror input)
  • Modes 5–8: Portrait rotation variants and mixed layouts

MMX-4X4VW

Switch between matrix mode and video wall mode via web GUI or RS-232. In video wall mode, choose 2×2 or 4×1 layout. Input source selection and layout are independently configurable.

Bezel Correction

Bezel correction compensates for the physical bezel of each display so the tiled image appears seamless across panels.

  1. Measure the inner bezel width of your displays in millimeters — this is the black border between the active screen areas of adjacent panels, not the outer frame.
  2. Enter the horizontal and vertical bezel values via the controller’s RS-232 command or GUI setting.
  3. The controller adjusts the image crop behind each bezel so content continues correctly from panel to panel.

Tip: Use a test pattern (full-grid image or color gradient) across all outputs to verify bezel alignment before final installation.

Output Rotation

The VW-HDUSBC1X4 supports 90° and 270° output rotation per port — useful for portrait-mounted displays in signage or command center walls.

EDID Management

All three controllers manage EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) internally. The controller presents a single EDID to the source that matches the target output resolution, preventing resolution mismatches when outputs have different display capabilities.
