Overview
The KanexPro H.265 (HEVC) AV over IP family distributes 4K60 and HD video over standard 1G Ethernet using H.265 compression, which keeps stream bandwidth low for large-scale deployments. Ideal for digital signage and installations where network bandwidth efficiency is a priority.
H.265 SKUs
The 4K model is one transceiver that is set to encoder or decoder with a rear-panel switch. The 1080p models are sold as separate encoder and decoder SKUs, with a KVM pair for applications where an operator controls the source PC.

Network Requirements
- Managed 1G Ethernet switch with IGMP snooping enabled; for the 1080p models, also enable multicast and filtering of unregistered multicast traffic
- Jumbo frames: recommended for AVO-IP265-4K video wall and multiview deployments; not required for the 1080p models
- Encoders and decoders must be on the same subnet as each other and as the controller's VIDEO LAN port; the controller's CONTROL LAN port connects to the IT network, on a different subnet when Static mode is used

- AVO-IPCTL-265 — 1G controller: matrix switching, video wall with window roaming, seamless switching, mouse collaboration and IP camera import; controlled by web GUI, TCP/IP, RS-232 or IR. Required on AVO-IP265-4K systems for video wall, multiview and KVM seat management.
- AVO-IPCTL-265HD — 100M controller: matrix switching and video wall management; controlled by web GUI, TCP/IP, RS-232 or IR. Pairs and routes the AVO-IP265HD and AVO-IP265HDK encoders and decoders.
Choosing the Right H.265 Model
Which model do I need for 4K60?
AVO-IP265-4K. The same SKU is used at both ends: set the rear-panel MODE switch to ENC at the source or DEC at the display, then restart the unit.
Which models do I need for 1080p distribution or signage?
AVO-IP265HD-ENC at each source and AVO-IP265HD-DEC at each display. Both run on PoE (802.3af) or the included 12V/1A adapter.
Which models do I need when an operator must control the source PC?
AVO-IP265HDK-ENC at the PC and AVO-IP265HDK-DEC at the operator position. Connect the encoder's USB HOST (Type B) port to the PC and plug the keyboard and mouse into the decoder's USB DEVICE ports.
Do I need a controller?
Not for point-to-point use. On the 1080p models, matrix routing can also be done without one by RS-232 command (!OUT xxx FR yyy). The controller adds matrix switching and video wall configuration from a web GUI; on AVO-IP265-4K systems, video wall, multiview and KVM seat management require the AVO-IPCTL-265.
