One USB-C Cable at the Table for Video, USB Devices and 60W Charging
How one 2-gang wall-plate carries laptop video, USB camera and mic, and 60W charging to a distant display over a single CAT6/6A run.
In stadiums, terminals, hospitals, campuses, broadcast plants and control rooms, the source and the operator are rarely in the same place. A production or scoring PC, a flight-information server, a surgical imaging workstation, a playout machine or a SCADA host belongs in a locked, climate-controlled equipment room — but the person driving it sits at a console, a podium, a gallery or a dispatch desk somewhere else in the building or on another building entirely.
Copper runs out long before those distances are covered, and pushing full 4K past its limit means either subsampling the chroma or dropping to a lower resolution. Electrically noisy environments — bowl-level camera positions, industrial plant, ramp areas — add EMI and RFI that twisted pair does not shrug off. And moving the picture is only half the job: the operator still needs keyboard and mouse on the racked machine, which a video-only extender does not carry.
Building a full AV-over-IP fabric solves reach but adds a network to design, switches to configure and licensing to manage, which is more than a single point-to-point link needs.
The EXT-HD4KFIBKVM-10KM is a matched transmitter and receiver that carry one HDMI source and USB keyboard-and-mouse control across a single fiber pair, with no switch and no network to engineer. The link runs at 18Gbps to HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.2, passing true 4K60 4:4:4 so chroma is not subsampled across the run, with 8/10/12-bit color depth and HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG pass-through. Audio spans LPCM 2/5.1/7.1CH plus the lossless Dolby and DTS bitstreams.
USB 1.1 keyboard and mouse traffic travels in both directions, so an operator at the display end drives the source computer over the same fiber. The transmitter offers an HDMI loop-out for a local confidence monitor, the receiver de-embeds analog audio to a 3.5mm jack, and advanced EDID management resolves the connected sinks automatically. Its differentiator is combining uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 and USB KVM on one point-to-point fiber pair, where long-run fiber extenders that reach this far are otherwise video-only. See EXT-HD4KFIBKVM-10KM for the full record.
A production or scoring PC stays racked and secured in a locked equipment room while the operator works from a control position in the bowl or on the press level, on the venue's single-mode backbone. The link delivers uncompressed 4K60 to the operator's monitor and returns keyboard and mouse to the machine, so the source never leaves the rack.
Flight-information and ramp-management sources in a central comms room feed concourse displays and remote operations desks across a terminal that exceeds copper distance. Fiber's noise immunity and long reach suit sprawling transit footprints, and the KVM channel lets ground-operations staff drive a distant playout or monitoring PC without walking to the rack.
Surgical camera or imaging-workstation output routes from an OR or modality room to a viewing room, pathology desk or teaching space on a different floor or in another building. Fiber suits patient-care spaces, the link passes full 4:4:4 4K60 for diagnostic-grade detail, and the KVM channel lets a remote clinician or technologist operate the source.
A source in a central data center or head-end drives an auditorium, lecture hall or boardroom in a neighboring building over campus single-mode fiber, past the reach of HDBaseT. The compute stays in a managed room while presenters or AV staff get keyboard and mouse control at the podium end.
A workstation, playout server or camera-shading PC in the machine room extends to the gallery, MCR or an edit/QC bay on one fiber pair, carrying uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 with HDR pass-through. KVM keeps the operator at the console while the noisy, hot equipment stays consolidated in the rack room.
SCADA, security-operations and dispatch sources in a secure equipment room reach operator consoles across a facility or between plant buildings. Fiber immunity to EMI and RFI suits electrically noisy industrial environments, the long reach covers substation-to-control-house spans, and remote KVM keeps the controlled machine physically secured away from the operator.
The link runs up to 10km over single-mode fiber at resolutions up to 4K2K@60Hz 4:4:4. OM4 multimode fiber is also supported for shorter, plant-matched runs by fitting a different SFP+ optic. Match the 10G SFP+ module to the fiber plant you have; it uses an LC connector, running from the transmitter's LC FIBER OUT to the receiver's LC FIBER IN on a single fiber-optic cable.
A USB Cable (Type A to Type B, 1.5m) is included for the host connection. Each unit takes DC 5V/2A at its DC 5V input from an AC 100–240V, 50/60Hz supply, and two 5V/2A multinational locking power supplies ship in the box; the transmitter draws 3.85W maximum and the receiver 3.3W maximum. A surge-protection device is recommended, since the electronics can be damaged by spikes, surges or lightning. Each metal-enclosure unit measures 4.72" × 3.07" × 0.96", and four mounting ears with eight KM3×6 machine screws are included for fixing the units in place. The units meet IEC 61000-4-2 at ±8kV air-gap and ±4kV contact discharge.
Yes. The extender passes USB 1.1 keyboard and mouse traffic in both directions: connect the computer to the transmitter's USB HOST port and the keyboard and mouse to the receiver's K&M USB-A ports, so an operator at the display end drives the source computer over the same fiber link.

EDID is managed automatically. If both the transmitter and receiver HDMI outputs have displays connected, it compares the two sink EDIDs and selects the lower, more compatible one; if only one end has a display, it copies that sink's EDID.
