SW-5X1PS-70M: Five-Source BYOD Switch with HDBaseT 3.0 Out

SW-5X1PS-70M SW-5X1PS-70M 5×1 HDMI/USB-C Seamless Presentation Switch with HDBaseT 3.0 Out — 4K60 to 40m… Consolidate Five BYOD and Legacy Sources with Seamless Switching, KVM, Dante Audio & HDBaseT… Product page →

The SW-5X1PS-70M is a 5×1 presentation switcher with an HDBaseT 3.0 receiver. It brings laptops and room sources together on one display system. It takes two USB-C inputs and three HDMI inputs. It switches seamlessly in single-screen mode and can show up to four sources at once in multiview. It is built for collaboration and presentation rooms where integrators need to support both BYOD laptops and fixed legacy sources, with USB KVM and Dante audio in the same box.

What inputs and outputs does the switch have?

The inputs are USB-C 1, USB-C 2, HDMI 3 (paired with a USB-B HOST 3 port), HDMI 4 and HDMI 5. Both USB-C inputs support DP Alt Mode for audio and video, USB 2.0, 100M Ethernet and 60W charging, so one cable connects and powers a laptop. The outputs are one HDMI and one HDBaseT, and they are mirrored: both displays show the same picture. The switch also has one analog audio input, one analog audio output, a Dante 2×2 port, a single LAN port and RS-232, IR IN and IR OUT ports.

How far can the HDBaseT output reach?

Over a single CAT6a (F/FTP) cable, the HDBaseT 3.0 output carries uncompressed 4K60 4:4:4 up to 131ft / 40m. At 1080p, the same single CAT6a (F/FTP) cable reaches 230ft / 70m. Terminate both ends straight-through to T568B and do not use a crossover cable. If a remote display works at 1080p but breaks up at 4K60, check the cable length. On runs longer than 40m, set the output to 1920x1080p60 or lower. The receiver can be powered by a 24V DC adapter or by PoE from the switcher, and you can turn PoE on or off.

What video formats does it handle?

The switch is HDMI 2.0b, HDCP 2.2 and DP 1.2 compliant with 18Gbps video bandwidth, and it supports input up to 4K@60Hz 4:4:4. At 4K60Hz 4:4:4 the input colour depth is 8-bit, and the output is always 8-bit. HDR is accepted at the input, but the output does not support HDR. Each input has 16 EDID choices, including copying the EDID from the HDMI or HDBaseT output and two user-defined EDIDs. You can set HDCP mode per output to Auto, 1.4 or 2.2.

Which multiview layouts and switching modes are available?

The layouts are Single, PIP, PBP, Triple and Quad. Switching is seamless in single-screen mode and fast in multiview. You can switch inputs manually or set auto switching with a fallback input that the switch selects when the active source is unplugged. You can save five named preset scenes and recall them from the front panel, RS-232, TCP/IP or the Web GUI. Settings can be exported and imported, so one room's setup can be copied to the next. The front panel buttons can be locked.

How does USB and KVM work?

USB-C 1, USB-C 2 and HDMI 3 (through HOST 3) carry USB to the host, while HDMI 4 and HDMI 5 carry video and audio only. The receiver has two USB-A ports for a keyboard, mouse or USB camera, plus a USB-B port for a PC at the far end. USB can follow the video, be switched manually, or move automatically to whichever host is connected. USB devices at the receiver run at up to 350Mbps to a host at the switcher and up to 480Mbps to a PC on the receiver's USB-B port.

What audio processing is built in?

A 3×3 audio matrix routes analog, Dante and embedded audio, with embedding and de-embedding. Every output (HDMI/HDBaseT, Line and Dante) has a 31-band graphic EQ (20Hz–20kHz, ±10dB) with a flat curve and five custom curves. Each output also has channel mix (stereo, left, right or L+R), 0–50ms delay, level and mute, and every input has level and mute. Audio is LPCM 2.0 at 48KHz. A balanced line output reaches 8.2 dBu (2 Vrms), and an unbalanced output reaches 2.2 dBu (1 Vrms).

Can it control the room display?

Yes. Using CEC or RS-232, it can turn the display on, select its input and turn it off again by itself. For RS-232 it sends ASCII or HEX commands with set delays, from either the local port or the receiver's port, and it has an auto power-off timer. You can control the unit itself from the front panel, bi-directional IR, RS-232, TCP/IP, the Web GUI or Dante Controller.
